Texas Festivals Exhibit Items
Local festivals reveal a lot about a community, their collective identity, what is important to them, and what industries, traditions, and cultures are prevalent. They show the character of Texas, and in turn, the character of America. The exhibition highlights 27 festivals that celebrate agriculture and other industries, nature and natural resources, and people’s cultural heritage and collective identity. Texas Festivals is broken into three sections, each addressing a guiding question: What is a festival? What do festivals celebrate? and How do festivals create community? This exhibition reflects the richness of Texas’s industries, geographies, communities, and cultures, and explores why communities choose to celebrate what they celebrate.
