Description
The Texas Centennial Celebration of 1936 presented a rare opportunity for marketing the unique history, culture, and climate of Texas to attract visitors and business interests to the state. With state funding secured through a constitutional amendment, the state engaged the Tracy Locke-Dawson advertising agency which created a sophisticated nationwide campaign advertising the celebration. Travel posters produced under the agency's contract and direction were an integral part of the campaign – 10,000 posters of the six poster designs were printed and distributed around the country.
