Description

North Fork of Red River depicts a barren landscape with two bulls drinking from the Red River with animals and mesas in the distance. The artists use of depth brings range life into focus for viewers. Although the artist worked increasingly in pastels after the turn of the century, this rare oil on canvas piece exemplifies his love for the plains. He designed his own easels, pastels and even re-configured a Model T, which allowed him and his students to work as artists out in an unforgiving natural "studio."
Artist: Frank Reaugh (1860-1945)
Date: 1914
Medium: Oil on Canvas
