Description

White Rock Lake is a rare and early work by Reveau Bassett. This lake would have been a likely subject for the young man since his father, a civil engineer, designed the pumping station and water treatment facilities for the lake. At the age of 12, the artist became a student of well-known Texas artist Frank Reaugh and traveled all over Texas learning from him. He taught at the Dallas Art Institute in the 1920s and 1930s and two works were exhibited in 1925 at the National Academy of Design.
