Description

Capitol Snow Scene is a wonderful example of folk art produced in Texas during the Capitol's historical era. As Texas art historian Cecilia Steinfeldt once noted, All folk artists possess a vitality and distinction that stems from sincerity of concept. But in many Texas creations there are subtle distinguishing characteristics a partiality for subjects that made Texas famous; and the interpretation of rugged life-styles and the rural character of the land. The painting shows the south façade and grounds of the Capitol after a snowfall.
