Description

Bluebonnets and the Capitol shows the surrounding countryside of Austin awash in the Texas state flower: the bluebonnet. The dome of the Capitol rises in the distance over the hills. The artist was born in Alabama and moved to Texas around 1889. A student and friend of well-known Austin sculptor Elisabet Ney, her specialty was floral landscapes. She preferred to work using watercolors and was adept at painting over 125 varieties of Texas wild flowers. She was the wife of famed Texas artist William Henry Huddle.
