Description

The Battle of San Jacinto hangs in the Senate Chamber and measures over nine feet tall by fifteen feet wide. It shows the final battle of the Texas Revolution where 900 Texas soldiers defeated over 1,300 Mexican fighters according to the official report. The artist conducted extensive research to depict the decisive battle where Texas won its independence. General Sam Houston can be seen waving his hat at the center left of the canvas to lead his men after Mexican fire struck him and his horse.
