Description

Bluebonnets with Capitol depicts a field of bluebonnets, the Texas state flower, with the Capitol in the distance. It was painted by native Texan Ella Marie Koepke Mewhinney. Before her marriage in 1913, she studied art on scholarship in St. Louis. Her art was exhibited regularly and won prizes in prestigious shows. Talented in oils, watercolors and pastels, her landscapes and florals are painted in a unique and distinctive style.
